Yoga Exercises Offer A Long-Term, Sustainable Solution To Better Health

Yoga exercises should not be seen as a quick fix for losing large amounts of weight in a short time, without addressing the root cause of your weight problem. Quick fixes, like crash dieting, may lead to quick weight loss initially, but in the long run actually lead to weight gain. Not only do you regain the weight you lost, but you go beyond where you started in the first place. Your body responds to a crash diet by going into famine mode.

This involves storing fat more readily than before as a metabolism slowing down in order to conserve the energy from the little food you are eating. When you start eating normally again, your body picks up weight quickly, continuing to store fat as if in Famine mode.

It is possible to reverse the detrimental effects of crash dieting, but it takes time, perseverance, regular yoga exercises and dedication to health. And just in case you are thinking ‘Well, just one more crash diet’ remember that the longer you persist with unhealthy diet options, the harder it will be for you to move into good health.

At times you may doubt or become impatient. At such times, simply consider the cost to your health and well-being of doing nothing or persisting with unsustainable, quick-fix weight-loss solutions.

Some Idea Of Time

How unhealthily you have been eating, and for how long, together with how infrequently you have been exercising, will influence how quickly health and ideal weight are achieved.

When you start applying the tools that various Yoga exercises give us, there may be an initial period during which you experience detoxification symptoms or some physical discomfort. However, within a week or two you generally move through the worst of these symptoms and establish the beginnings of a familiar routine. It is said to take 21 days to break a habit, so this is another marker to look forward to as your new lifestyle habits become ingrained.

By then you will definitely notice some weight loss, with accompanying benefits, such as increased energy levels and a more positive outlook on life, as encouragement to continue. Following this is a three-month mark, by which time the routine is well established and there is an increased consistency in your experience of health. For different people it takes different lengths of time to achieve ideal weight and shape. Persevere. In time your efforts and dedication to your yoga exercises will pay off.
